RESOURCES TO HELP UTILITIES PLAN AND PREPARE

The Stage 2 Microbial and Disinfection Byproducts (MDBP) Rules were signed on December 15, 2005 and published in the Federal Register on January 4th and 5th. Draft Simultaneous Compliance Guidance Manual for Stage 2 Rules

The purpose of this guidance manual is to help water systems and their regulators identifyand mitigate potential simultaneous compliance issues that may arise when systems make changes to comply with the LT2ESWTR and/or the Stage 2

DBPR. The manual also lists possible ways that simultaneous compliance issues could be addressed. In addition, tools are recommended and described to help determine if potential issues may affect a given system.

EPA encourages utilities and others to submit corrections and suggestions to the manual at: stage2mdbp@epa.gov.

Initial Distribution System Evaluation Tool (IDSE Tool)

The IDSE Tool is a web-based electronic wizard designed to help water systems through the entire IDSE process. Systems first use the IDSE Wizard to determine which IDSE option is best for them. The IDSE Plan/Report Entry then creates custom forms for the selected option and guides the system step-by-step through the forms that can then be submitted electronically. The IDSE Tool is also available on CD-ROM.
